What car would you have like to been built ?

Almost... The Jaguar C-X75. It went through a few iterations, beginning with a gas-turbine-electic hybrid (silver) and then with an insanely high revving F1 engine before being canned. It did appear in the Bond film, Spectre, in 2015. Ian Callum, the original designer, has set up his own studio now and converted one to make it street legal (orange).

There were rumours of a 'Bentley Arnage PDQ' at one point. It was to be fitted with Bugatti's W16.

Carver S+. Two-seater commuter BEV. 80 km/h, max range 100 km.
As someone who lived in asia and had to commute via motorbike, this looks a nice upgrade. Now if there is some way to increase the crash safety factor for such vehicles and it'd be perfect.

Aston Martin Bulldog. Quite a history behind this. AM was planning a limited edition but never quite made it. The prototype has recently undergone a full restoration. The design was by William Towns, who was responsible for the wedge-shaped Lagonda of the 70s. It makes the Cybrtrk look vulgar, which it is.
AIUI, the 'Folded Paper' styling of this, and other cars from this time, was due in part to the limitations of the early CAD software then available.

cheers,
Robin.

Yeah, its pretty mad alright. One of the things I really liked was the door,it was probably one of the few genuinely original new ideas when it came to car doors that I`d seen, tho like most not as good as the traditional one that it was trying to replace.
The other car this guy built is in some ways even crazier, its the Safarikar, with body panels of alloy covered in Naugahyde[!!] of all things.
Mohs-Safarikar-10-1536x1023.jpg

The doors slide out horizontally on rods
Mohs-Safarikar-11.jpg

also a fold down hard top.
Personally I think it should`ve had a center steering position that way the big game hunters on either side could`ve had a clear shot at any rhino, lion, buffalo that popped up
This one fully restored was up for sale

This is certainly not for the fun thread. Still, a salute to the man who designed so many cars that should have been built and fortunately many that were.

To be the center of attraction at a vintage car convention

I have a lot of answers to this question, but today I'll throw out the Ford Interceptor.
Pretty decent chance the Blue Oval would have flubbed this if they went ahead. But, if they had done it right...hot damn.

Bugatti Galibier. From what I remember, it did make some progress towards production but they tried to make it a limousine and they ended up ruining the proportions - 'like a dachshund from the side and a bowler hat from the rear' is one description - so it was put out of its misery. This was before people were buying luxury 4-seaters that weren't saloons or limos, so if they'd pursued it as a GT or similar, it might have succeeded.

SAAB was planning this as a 9-3 replacement to go into production in 2012.

For every new or revived marque that succeeds (at least for a while), there are dozens that don't. A lot of EV startups are struggling (Fisker is circling the drain) or dependent on powerful backers (Polestar at least had a start with Volvo and is now a separate brand under Chinese giant Geely, which owns both - and Lotus).

And then there are peculiarities like this venture. Entirely a grift or wishful thinking with embroidered facts? It's been four years now, so I assume it's a case of 'exit, pursued by bailiff.'

And thank the Great Green Arkleseizure that this never made it. 'No side mirrors needed'? And no cooling for that huge engine either, it seems.

The FFF 100 by GKN
Built using a jensen ff chassis [ferguson formula 4 wheel drive+maxaret anti-lock brakes] and powered by a 426 hemi
For me its a toss-up as to whether this or the monterverdi hai is the ultimate hemi powered car

Not as good looking as the Interceptor or the FF sadly

Heres another one that wasnt a bad looker, the Jensen G-type,sadly Jensen decided to go with the Jensen Healey instead.

*-probably about 3 1/2 in the FFF 100 . . .

Heres one that I always liked, the stag fastback
Triumph-Stag-Fastback-Prototype-12-scaled.jpg

Tho the real problem with the stag was its appalling v8 engine,if only they`d used the rover v8 then it might`ve had a chance at being the success it deserved to be.

The Lynx II was another one with potential that came close to production, but sadly it was not to be.....
One could easily imagine this with the TR8 engine, performance and practicality.
1974-leyland-force-7v.jpg

leyland-p76-onroad-1024x683.jpg

And heres one a little closer to my neck of the woods, the Force 7V,built by the australian branch of Leyland, its version of its competitors very successful coupes/2 doors, however financial troubles led to the end of the project and leylands aussie branch.
Its a shame as it was a little bit more practical than its competitors with its hatchback, but it also used a lot of new panels that were not in common with its 4 door P76 progenitor.
I wouldnt be at all surprised if theres an alternate time line where its versions of Mad Max/Mad Max 2 has max driving one of these.
